Physical/Energetic Interface: Neuro 1: (NEURO1) is a prerequisite for Physical/Energetic Interface: Neuo 2 and the Mentorship Program.
Class Prerequisites: Core Concepts and Manual Perception 1
Preparation for this Class: The following structures have definitions and some functions described in pages 43-46 in the Core Concepts and Skills manual. Please have a good comprehension of the structures relative to one another and their functions in the body in order to maximize your learning experience.
You may find it helpful to have one or more anatomy books and colored pens/pencils present with you at class. Many students have expressed the benefits of studying a three-dimensional model of the brain. Although certainly not required, the best model we have found is on a German website. Look over the home page and click on the "English" button. The link is http://www.somso.de/english/main.htm - cruise around just for fun. Also, more fun sites for the brain include http://www.neuroanatomy.hpg.ig.com.br/brain9.htm . There are photos taken of a dissected brain and some of the shots are just amazing; http://www.brainsource.com/neuropsy.htm; http://www.med.harvard.edu/AANLIB/home.html, http://www.parkviewortho.com/animate_all.html and http://www.brain-map.org If you come up with any additional sites that go well with our classes, drop us an e-mail with a link! Thanks to those students who have already done so.

PHYSICAL/ENERGETIC INTERFACE: NEURO 1
Class Description: Students will be exposed to techniques and concepts for helping to balance the central nervous system, including neural motility, reflexes to affect circulation and dural motility. Original models are presented to help treat spinal mechanics and regulatory mechanisms that facilitate change in the central nervous system via systemic relationships. Biovalent® Systems Manual Therapy is a very safe modality for all bodyworkers and most clients, as it encourages the practitioner to interact with the wisdom of their client’s body. Techniques are designed to assist the rhythms of motilities in that individual, whether they are fascial, muscular, visceral, osseous, nervous or circulatory tissues. By respecting that individual’s unique rhythms, following them and providing gentle support in the process, the body is assisted toward re-establishing equilibrium or balance, promoting the return of homeostasis. Practitioners do not demand or stimulate the body towards any preconceived outcome. Therapists find patterns of tension and work with only what the body indicates needs help, in a way the body can easily incorporate that assistance, seeking only balance in the client’s body.
Learning outcomes: Students will demonstrate the ability to:

Some groups prefer to have longer breaks and shorter lunches, depending on proximity of eating establishments. Some groups prefer the option of an early start and/or shorter lunch on the final day of the course to allow for travel time.
